If you're like me, you probably take walking for granted. After all, everyone's been doing it since they were kids, it's not a special skill.
But what if you could get paid to walk? In this Cash for Steps review, we'll be looking at an app that offers to do just that.
How Does it Work?
Cash for Steps' concept is simple: just download the app and walk!
It's basically what you would call a 'cash walking app'.
Every day, the top 200 walkers are entered to win $1. There are also goals and achievements you can unlock by walking more, each worth a dollar.

Once you've earned $10, you can cash out. Payment is available either through PayPal or in Amazon gift cards.
If you have an Apple Watch, you can sync it to collect health and fitness data beyond just steps and distance you've run.
Where to get the app
The app is only available for iOS devices (iPhone) which you can download from the Apple App Store.
Unfortunately, they don't have an Android version yet.
Why Does Cash for Steps Pay?
When you get told that a company is willing to pay you for walking, you probably first wonder what the catch is. After all, how could a company afford to do that?
Cash for Steps relies on ad revenue in order to pay its users. According to the site Sensor Tower, the app had over forty thousand downloads in the last month and likely earned over five thousand dollars from its users.
Because Cash for Steps pays only a small group of winners each time, the publisher of the app is actually making a ton of profit from this service.
Cash for Steps Reviews & Ratings
With over 18 thousand reviews on the App Store ranging from one to five stars, it seems that opinions on Cash for Steps are pretty polarized. People seem to like that it motivates them to get out and walk more, but others have less positive viewpoints.
'I love the way this app gives yourself a good challenge every day,' says reviewer KBailster, who liked that you can see other people's steps, which motivates them to do better.
'App works if a few years and millions of steps are worth $10' another reviewer says, claiming that people are cheating to get their thousands of steps per day in order to get in the toplists.
Cash Point Reviews Yelp
User Walrusfan123452746 called Cash for Steps 'one of the only realistic apps for making money by walking.' They also pointed out that 'if you can manage to get yourself in top 50 every day, which isn't that hard if you're not lazy, you have a 10% chance of winning 1$.' (A quick note: Cash for Steps seems to be increasing the size of the group eligible to win every so often. Instead of the top 50, now the top 200 users have a 10% chance of winning.)
'The problem is: once you reach your achievements, they don't reset,' says another user, who finished all seven of the available achievements and is unable to cash out for just doing that, since the minimum is $10.
Is Cash for Steps a scam?
The most important question, especially for apps that are linked to money, is whether or not it's trying to pull one over on you.
Cash for Steps is not a scam, as far as I've been able to tell. They do pay you, and they don't require you to make any payments for the use of their services.
Pros & Cons
As with any other app or service, there are positives and negatives about this one as well.
Pros
Cash for Steps has a fair amount going for it. Here are a few things that are nice about the app:
- The app charts your progress and your personal bests, so you can see how far you've come!
- Unlike other step-counting apps, you don't have to have it running constantly and eating your battery. Just check in once a day to sync your progress.
- The leaderboard gives you a goal to work toward, especially if you want that top-200 bonus.
Cons
Of course, every service has its disadvantages. Some things about the app that aren't so nice are:
- It's been pointed out by multiple users that some people seem to be cheating in order to get into the top 200. While this is difficult to confirm, there have been reports of users starting the day out with 50,000 steps, which would be difficult to do. Hopefully, the developers crack down on these users.
- Some users have also complained that a 10% chance to win $1 for being at the top of the list is fairly poor odds.
- There have been bugs in the app where unlocking an achievement doesn't reset it, meaning that once you unlock all the achievements you can't earn any more money for completing them.
In Conclusion
This app isn't going to pay you a lot of money, obviously, but I don't think that's the point. If you are someone who needs the incentive to start working out, this app can really help you find the motivation to start running, or at the very least walking, every day.
Plus, if you do end up being one of the winners from the top 200 users, that's going to feel special! It gives users a goal to strive for, even if it's just for some spare cash.

What Is PointClub?
As mentioned above, PointClub is a website that pays you to take free surveys. Each time you take a survey, you're rewarded a certain amount of points.
These points can be exchanged for prizes such as direct deposits to PayPal or for gift cards to popular retailers such as Amazon. You will never be asked to enter in any credit card information.
The way PointClub rewards you for surveys is much different than your average survey site. The more a survey is catered to a specific group, to more you're likely to earn.
For example, if there's a survey that's looking for people from a small town in Oregon that no one has heard of, the rewards are going to be quite high.
Longer surveys also tend to pay quite a bit more. One thing that PointClub does that a lot of other survey sites don't is that they tell you beforehand how long a survey can take. This way you're able to estimate how much effort is needed before you actually start. If you're a fast worker, you can usually get it done much faster than the time they estimate. Most of the time you will find that the questions are quick and easy to answer.

The reason PointClub is able to pay its users is because it sells the data collected from surveys as market research. Companies use this information to improve their services and products. Most of the time you will find that the surveys are quick and painless.
It's extremely important that you are completely honest in your survey responses. If at any time PointClub finds that your answers are inconsistent from one survey to the next, you may risk suspension.
How Much Can I Earn With PointClub?
PointClub rewards you for taking surveys in the form of points. Each point is equal to $0.001 USD, which makes 1,000 points equal to $1 USD. On average, you can expect each survey to reward you anywhere between 200 and 2,000 points. You need a minimum of 25,000 points to cash out.
When you first register as a new user, PointClub promises their members that they can start off with $5 in their account.
You earn 5,000 points just for registering as a new user, and your first five-minute survey gets you a 1,000 point bonus. Right there you already have $6 within your first ten minutes.
When you first sign-up, you should have plenty of offers available to complete. You can view in the image below what kind of surveys I was given my time logging-in.
If we look at our options, we see that the survey with the best value are the ones that give you 2,000 points for 20 minutes of your time. At this rate, you're essentially earning $6 per hour. By no means will this replace a full-time job, but it can be a great way to earn some extra side income.
For this reason, we suggest to focus on surveys that give you a minimum of 500 points for 5 minutes. Most of the time you should be able to knock out the surveys before the estimated time. If this is the case, we can conclude that you could be making as much as $7 per hour. Although this amount may seem small, we can dramatically increase it by leveling up.
Earn More Leveling UpIf you continually take surveys, PointClub will give you a bonus for your active participation. Jacks or better game. You should notice right away that if you log-in the following day after registration, you'll automatically be bumped up to Level 1. This will give you a 10% bonus on all survey earnings.
If you log-in for 5 days straight, you will obtain Level 2. This will give you a 20% bonus on all survey earnings. Log-in for another 5 days continuously and you'll be bumped up to Level 3 for a 30% bonus and so-on.
Every 5 days of signing-in continuously levels you up once until you reach a maximum level of 10 with a 100% bonus of all earnings. If we get to this level, we can turn that $6 – $7 per hour into earning roughly $14 – $15 per hour. That's pretty good for simply taking online surveys.
Earn Extra By Entering SuperCodesYou can earn extra just by entering in SuperCodes. These codes can be found on the PointClub Facebook and Twitter pages. You don't even have to take a survey to redeem them.

2. SwagbucksWant to increase your earnings by not only taking more surveys but by watching videos and shopping online? Swagbucks is one of the most – if not the most – popular rewards site currently out there. They've been around for years and have an excellent payout program.
You can earn cash by watching videos, shopping online, taking polls, taking surveys, playing games, signing-up for free trial offers, credit card offers and more. Not only that, but they have an excellent referral program giving you 10% of all all of your friends' earnings. Support FFL by using our referral link – thank you!

TopCashback is an online shopping portal that partners with thousands of retailers across the web and places their affiliate links onto one page. When you click on one of these links, you'll be redirected to the retailer's website to make a purchase. Since you clicked on this link, TopCashback earns a commission and gives it all back to you in the form of cash back.
Cash Point Store
TopCashback gives you a $10 sign-up bonus, and you can cash out once you reach a minimum balance of $10 in cash back. Not only that, but for each friend you refer that completes their first offer, you get an additional bonus of $10.
Payments can be made to PayPal or for gift cards to Amazon or American Express. When you choose to exchange for gift cards, you automatically get a 3% bonus. On average, you should be able to save an average of 7% with TopCashback. Another popular shopping portal that has rates that are just as good is BeFrugal. Be sure to check between these two sites when determining which portal has the better rate.
Still confused on shopping portals? Be sure to read our full portal guide.
Final Thoughts
Compared to other survey sites out there, we are pleased to announce that PointClub is one of the better ones. This is mostly due to the fact that their payout rate is definitely worth your time. Just remember to keep signing back in consecutively to level up and increase your earnings.
Expect to earn around $10 per hour minimum assuming that you're at least at level 3. Even if you check back often for more offers, you shouldn't have any problem running out of surveys. At this time, PointClub does not currently have a referral system in place.
If you have experience with PointClub, we'd love to hear about it. Feel free to let us know how you're doing down in the comments below, or if you have any questions. We're more than happy to help out. Thanks for reading and happy frugaling!
